We cannot accept credit cards on site at Imani. However, we CAN accept advance payment on a credit card, via PayPal online. If you would like to pay by credit card in advance please arrange this with us at time of booking. PayPal is a safe and secure way to transfer money and accepts all currencies. Guests who would prefer not to carry large amounts of cash in person may also prefer sending money via PayPal in advance.

 

Other Information

  1. Free Wifi: Bring your own laptop, or use our public laptop available in the reception area.
  2. Passport: must be valid at least 6 months.
  3. Visas: $50+ depending on nationality. Easiest bought in cash (US dollars cash) at port or airport, although this may depend on your nationality. Check requirements for your nationality with your home country foreign office or Tanzanian diplomatic mission. Usually, a Single Entry Tourist Visa is valid for 3 months (90 days).
  4. EXIT FEE: There is an airport tax 'exit fee' which is payable per person in cash (US dollars) on departure. Please ensure you keep $30 (US dollars) aside for this on departure day. You will not be allowed to fly if you cannot pay this 'exit fee' in cash. However, in some cases some airlines include the departure Tax in their ticket price. Please check with your travel agent.
  5. Airport/port transfers & pick-ups: We can organise airport, or port, pick-ups and transfers. A taxi to/from the airport would be between $15-$20 US dollars, to/from the port slightly less.
  6. Languages: English & Swahili
  7. Money: Currency - Tanzanian Shilling U.S. Dollars accepted for some tourist activities. There are at least 4 ATM machines in Stone Town, but they should not be relied upon. We recommend bringing cash or travellers cheques, in GB Pounds Sterling or US dollars. You can change this at Forex Bureaus or banks in Stone Town.
  8. Vaccinations: Check with your local physician about vaccinations at least 4-6 weeks before your holiday to allow time for them to take effect. Among the recommended vaccinations are typhoid, yellow fever, hepatitis A & B, and, if needed, booster doses for tetanus-diphtheria, measles and polio. Tanzania officially requires the certificate of yellow fever vaccination, if you are arriving directly from an infected area. If you fly directly into Zanzibar from a non-infected country on an international flight you do not officially need a yellow fever vaccination. Anti-malaria treatment recommended.
  9. Insurance: Please ensure you have full travel and health insurance.
  10. Families & Children: We warmly welcome families and children and babies at Imani. Several of our rooms are especially suitable for families, as they have connecting doors. One room has a 'corner' style bath, which may also be useful to families with young children.
  11. GROUP HIRE: Imani is ideally suited for group hire. We can sleep a maximum of 16 people, but may be able to accommodate a few more at locations very close by, so please do still make enquiries if your group is larger.
  12. Vegetarian diet/ Vegan diet: We warmly welcome vegetarians and vegans, and can accommodate a vegetarian or vegan diet.
  13. Accessibility: The property is not adapted for wheelchair users. As noted in description of the rooms, Room 5 is suited to an older couple, or persons who may have mobility problems, for the bed is low and the bath has a corner 'seat'. If you would like to see pictures of this room and bathroom, please contact us and we can send pictures by email.
  14. Wedding parties/honeymoons: We are exploring the idea of offering Imani as a venue for weddings and wedding parties. We warmly welcome Honeymoon couples, and reserve the 'Sultan Suite' for Honeymooners. We strive to make your stay extra special, with small gestures, which can be discussed in advance if preferred.
  15. Clothing: Light and comfortable. It would be unusual to require a jumper or cardigan even in the evening, so bring 1 maximum. Ladies; in Stone Town and in areas away from tourists, it is respectful to carry a light scarf to cover your shoulders and wear knee length shorts/dresses/skirts. If you didn't adhere to this no one would bother you, but it is nice to respect.
  16. Laundry: We offer a laundry service upon request, charged per item of clothing.
  17. Remember to bring: mosquito repellent, protective rubber footwear for walking over coral rock, cash (some in US dollars).
